Find Your Family Fun This Family Day

February 15, 2023

There are a lot of local, and not-so-local activities and events happening on Family Day to help you keep your family entertained and exhausted all day long. Here are a few ideas:

  • Check out an outdoor rink: Why not check out one of the many local outdoor rinks around Chestermere & Langdon?
  • Go sledding: Head on over to a favourite hill to go sledding. East Lake School and Chestermere Middle School both have great hills. There is also a great hill on Marina Drive, north of Parkmere Green. Prairie Winds Park has some excellent sledding as well.
  • Try fishing: The Family Day long weekend is also a Family Fishing Weekend. For this weekend, families do not require a fishing license to fish on any Alberta water bodies with open fishing seasons.
  • Grab a hot chocolate: Warm up with some hot chocolate from either Prairie Grounds Coffee House in Langdon or JusFruit Chestermere. They are both participating in YYC Hot Chocolate Fest.
  • Cheer on local hockey players: There's also the U7 Ironman Tournament happening all day at the Chestermere Recreation Centre, and there are lots of great silent auction items, a 50/50 and concession.
  • Enjoy a Museum: If hockey isn't your thing, there is free admission on Family Day to the Military Museums, Studio Bell and Hanger Flight Museum
  • Meet a sloth: If you like animals, head on down to the Nutrien Western Event Centre at the Stampede Grounds and check out the Wildlife Festival.
  • Feed your kids for free: When you can't stand the "I'm hungry" cries anymore, kids eat free at the Canadian Brewhouse Chestermere on Family Day.
