Easy Fall Craft with the Chestermere Playschool

Be sure to collect some leaves before the snow flies for this super simple craft

By Chestermere Community Playschool October 17, 2024

This craft is a great way to encourage discussions about different shapes, colours and textures. How does the leaf feel, smell or even sound? Drawing the missing half of the leaf builds spatial awareness.

Supplies:

  • different kinds of leaves
  • paper
  • scissors
  • tape or glue
  • crayons in fall colours

Take a look in your yard or around your neighbourhood to see how many different kinds of leaves you can find. Look for different colours and shapes.

Parents may cut the leaves in half for younger kids, but this step is great scissor practice for older kids.

Next, tape or glue half a leaf in the middle of a piece of paper. Kids may then use different coloured crayons to draw the other half of the leaf.
