Local Options When Seeking Family Supports and Programming

The Chestermere-Strathmore Family Resource Network (FRN) plays a vital role in supporting families within the Chestermere and Strathmore communities. This network is part of a province-wide initiative in Alberta, aimed at providing comprehensive services and resources to families, children, and youth. By offering a range of programs, the FRN addresses various aspects of family well-being, from early childhood development to parenting support and youth services. The FRN is a collaborative approach with Trellis Commons Chestermere and Strathmore, Healthy Families, and Chestermere Parent and Caregiver Support Services.

The mission of the Chestermere-Strathmore FRN is to foster healthy family dynamics and build resilient communities. The vision is to ensure every family has access to the support and resources they need to thrive. This is achieved through a collaborative approach, bringing together community organizations, government agencies, and local stakeholders. 

The network provides a variety of services tailored to meet the diverse needs of families in the region:

  • Parenting Support Programs;
  • Early Childhood Development;
  • Youth Programs;
  • Family Support Services
  • Community Engagement

Part of the Chestermere-Strathmore Family Resource Network is the Parent and Caregiver Support Services (PCSS). PCSS is a dedicated program focused on empowering parents and caregivers through education, resources, and community connections. PCSS offers a variety of support programs including parenting workshops, one-on-one consultations, and support groups, all designed to help parents and caregivers navigate the complexities of raising children. Whether you are seeking advice on child development, coping strategies for parental stress, or ways to connect with other parents in the community, PCSS provides a welcoming and supportive environment to meet your needs. Through these comprehensive services, PCSS aims to strengthen family bonds, promote positive parenting practices, and enhance the overall well-being of families in the Chestermere area.

What agencies and programs make up the Chestermere-Strathmore FRN?:

  1. The City of Chestermere’s Parent & Caregiver Support Services (PCSS) focuses on supporting Chestermere parents and caregivers with children under the age of 13 by offering a range of virtual and in-person workshops, parenting support, developmental check-ups, information and resources.

Trellis Commons Chestermere/Strathmore delivers a range of services throughout the region including early childhood development and youth programs, Indigenous parenting programs, home visitation services for families with children ages 7-18, as well as information and supports, all of which are available to Chestermere residents.

  3. Healthy Families offers a home visitation program throughout the region for parents and families with children under the age of 6, offering individualized supports and services depending on the needs of each family.

Macaroni KID Chestermere is a free local event and activities calendar, weekly e-newsletter and website focused on fun family events and information in the Chestermere, Langdon, Indus and surrounding rural areas. We gather all kinds of local family events and activities each week and add useful information about classes, family-focused local businesses, recipes, crafts, school and camp guides and more.
