Be Body Positive

Explores body positivity, and ideas surrounding beauty, health, and self-confidence

By Stepping Stones to Mental Health June 15, 2023

Stepping Stones to Mental Health is hosting two Be Body Positive programs at the Chestermere Rec Centre this summer for ages 13 - 16 and 8 - 12 years.

Be Body Positive explores body positivity, and ideas surrounding beauty, health, and self-confidence without comparison or judgment. During the adolescent years, young people experience many changes, both emotionally and physically. Teaching teens about self-compassion and self-respect encourages them to develop the confidence to stand strong in their individuality and connect and support one another instead of competing and comparing.

The Be Body Positive Curriculum is an evidence-based program that teaches gentle tools for physical and emotional well-being. During the program, we will explore five Core Competencies that allow people to develop self-care behaviours originating from a place of self-love and appreciation. These Core Competencies help people to have more positive, balanced relationships with their bodies and lives.
