Go Girl: A One-Day "Try-It" Event - Registration Deadline March 10

Providing girls with an opportunity to experience a variety of physical activities and sports

Friday, March 17, 2023 from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm at the Chestermere Rec Centre  

Go Girl is an action-packed, one-day event designed to support girls, ages 9 – 15, to pursue an active living lifestyle. Up to 200 girls will “see and try” a variety of physical and wellness activities and receive information on where to participate in activities of their choice in our community. In addition, the participants will be provided with nutrition and wellness resources during the lunchtime resource fair. 

Registration Fee: $20.00 (includes lunch & t-shirt) Click here to register online or register in person at the Chestermere Rec Centre main office. The registration deadline is March 10.

Activities for the day will include (this is not a complete list):

  • Special guest speaker
  • Lunchtime resource fair
  • Curling - learn what the curling delivery looks like, the importance of sweeping and how to score during a game. 
  • Eating Awareness - Learn about mouth hunger, stomach hunger and heart hunger. Learn why we eat the foods we eat. 
  • Dance - Learn some jazzy hip-hop steps and put together a fun combo
  • Mental Health - creative expression activity will encourage participants to explore the messages they have received about their bodies - past and present - from various sources, which is important in understanding their current attitudes and behaviors. This activity is a way to explore current relationships with our bodies and to create space for discussion.

  • Boxing
