Marsh Dipping and Learn to Fish Clinics

The Bow Habitat Station is once again offering Marsh Dipping and Learn to Fish Clinics for families. Get outside, have a little fun with your family and learn more about our environment. The Bow Habitat Station is located just a short 20-minute drive from Chestermere or 29-minute drive from Langdon. 1440-17A Street SE, Calgary.

Marsh Dipping

Investigate what lies beyond the cattails of the marshes! Armed with nets and buckets, prepare to get a bit muddy as we search for and identify the critters who make their home in our wetlands.

This 45-minute programmer-led activity is a great opportunity to dive deeper and learn about the often-missed critters who make their home in our wetlands.

All equipment provided. Rubber boots recommended.

  • All tickets must be bought in advance.
  • Fee: $4 per person
    - Recommended for ages 4 & up
    - Youth ages 12 and under must be accompanied by a paid adult.
  • To safely enable current public health guidelines, pre-registration is required for this program.

Learn to Fish Clinics (ages 4+)

Discover the lure of fishing! This 2-hour outdoor program teaches the basics of fishing through hands-on activities designed for families with kids ages 4 and up. Together, you'll learn to:

  • Read Alberta's Sportfishing Regulations
  • Select lures and tackle
  • Identify common sportfish
  • Cast a spin rod

On the day of your clinic:

  • Fishing equipment rental is provided (from 10:00 am to 3:45 pm)
  • A group fishing licence for participants is included (no fishing licence required)

Note: Youth ages 12 and under must be accompanied by a paid adult participant.

This program is for pre-registered participants only. Please do not invite others to watch and/or bring along non-participating family members to the program.
