I teach people who want to work online how to start and build their own successful digital businesses doing lifestyle marketing across various social media platforms.

What inspired or encouraged you to start this business?

I missed out on many things with my kids due to my work schedule. I wanted more time at home with my family but I wasn’t ready to completely give up working. I enjoy having the additional income and something for myself. Now with my business, I can be a mom boss without the mom guilt or the mom stress.

What was the most difficult part of starting your business?

Getting myself out of the employee mindset and into thinking like an entrepreneur.

How do you balance work and family life?

That has become so much easier now that I can schedule work around my family instead of the other way around.

Do you have any advice to give other super moms?

Enjoy as much time as you can making memories with your kids. They grow up oh so fast. And don’t forget to take care of yourself. It really is true that you can’t properly take care of others unless you’re taking care of yourself.

What do you love most about your business?

Two things: (1) The flexibility - I work when I want, where I want - all I need is an internet connection. (2) I get to help other people (I mostly work with moms) find a way to achieve their perfect lifestyle and balance.

What do you do to take care of YOU?

With a more relaxed schedule, I find I crave less of what we typically consider self-care, but I definitely do enjoy reading, listen to podcasts, a girly Netflix series, meetups with girlfriends, and getting outside when the weather is warmer.

What is your favourite thing to do with your kids or family in the local area?

We have lived in Langdon for over 20 years and we love to get out for walks and bike rides. As well, we enjoy family dinners out at establishments in both Langdon and Chestermere.

Macaroni Kid Chestermere is a free weekly newsletter and website focused on fun family events and information in the Chestermere, Langdon and surrounding areas. We gather together all kinds of local family events and activities each week and add useful information about classes, family-focused businesses, book and product reviews, recipes, crafts, school and camp guides and more. Our event calendar is available 24/7, so anytime you think, "What should we do today?", we want it to be your go-to resource. Know of an upcoming event I've missed? Events can be submitted HERE or via email at kimmcrae@macaronikid.com.

Please always remember to tell businesses/event hosts that you heard about their event on Macaroni Kid! Your readership and support help us to bring you this free newsletter and website.
