Free Parent Education Sessions from Community Education Services

The Community Education Service (CES) provides parents/caregivers and other community members with opportunities to access free, public education sessions on child and youth emotional wellness and health topics. 


March 8, 2021 

Supporting LGBTQ2S+ Children and Youth: A Workshop for Parents and Family Members 

Online: 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

This workshop will support parents and caregivers to create a more inclusive family environment. Deepen your understanding of the differences between sex, gender, and sexual orientation, and discuss the impacts of homophobia, biphobia, transphobia on LGBTQ2S+ children and youth. Participants will also gain practical tools and skills to support their LGBTQ2S+ family members and friends. This session is presented by the Centre for Sexuality in partnership with the Community Education Service of Alberta Health Services, MHCB Stepping Stones to Mental Health and Rocky View Schools.

ADHD & Executive Functioning with Covid-19 Considerations 

Online: 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

The session will be an overview of ADHD and how issues with impulsivity and/or inattention impact children's ability to manage their environments. The session will also explore the impact ADHD has on Executive Functioning and how it relates to managing everyday tasks, and meeting daily expectations at home and at school, including social, emotional, behavioural and academic demands. This session is presented by the Community Education Service of the Child & Adolescent Addiction & Mental Health and Psychiatry Program (CAAMHPP) of Alberta Health Services in partnership with RVS, MHCB Stepping Stones to Mental Health.
