3 Ways to Decorate Your Window for Remembrance Day with Printables

Easy projects keep kids entertained including colouring sheets

By Carmen Kaethler, Macaroni Kid Winnipeg November 9, 2021

Remembrance Day is just around the corner and whether you are able to attend a service or show your respect in other ways, we can show we remember by putting up poppies in our windows. There are a lot of crafts you can pick from but here are three easy options that my girls enjoyed doing, kept them occupied for a while and didn't need a lot of supplies.

We also made a Facebook Live video of these crafts that you can catch HERE.

Stained Glass Tissue Paper Poppy

Supplies:

  • Red Tissue paper cut into small squares
  • Scissors
  • Black Construction paper
  • Wax Paper
  • White Glue with a paintbrush

Directions:

  1. Cut outline of poppy from construction paper and glue it onto wax paper
  2. Cut a circle for the center of poppy from construction paper and glue it onto wax paper
  3. Glue tissue paper squares inside of the outline
  4. Glue a second layer of wax paper on top of poppy to seal
  5. Let dry
  6. Trim excess.

Coffee Filter Poppies

Supplies:

  • Coffee Filters
  • Scissors
  • Paintbrushes
  • Watercolour paints (red & black)

Directions:

  1. Paint the coffee filter red
  2. Once covered with red, add a black middle
  3. Let dry, optional trim the edge of filter to look more like petals

Poppy Colouring Sheets

Click to download the poppy colouring sheets, let the kids colour and post in the windows too!

And when it's all done, put them up in the window for everyone to see.
