The City of Chestermere is Hosting Their First-Ever Halloween Contest

By City of Chestermere October 8, 2020

The City of Chestermere is pleased to announce the first-ever Halloween costume contest!

“As we are not able to hold the Kids Holiday Store this year due to the pandemic, we wanted to offer a new way for families to connect and help neighbours in need through the Gifts of Kindness Fund,” says Marla Polachek, the Team Lead for the City’s Community Support Services. “We hope that this will be a fun way for families to enjoy the season together.”

Anyone who wants to participate just needs to take a photo of their children or whole family in costume (no limit on number of people in the photo), pay the $10 entry fee and upload it to the City’s website before October 29 at https://chestermere.ca/407/Gifts-of-Kindness

All proceeds will go towards the City’s Gifts of Kindness Fund – a charity that supports families in need throughout the community.

Entries will be evaluated in the following categories:

  • Most Creative
  • Best Original
  • Scariest
  • Funniest
  • Cutest (age 12 months and under)
  • Best Family Themed Costume

The top two winners in each category will be chosen on October 30 and receive a candy loot bag and a pumpkin in time for Halloween.

The top 3 families who win the ‘best family-themed costume’ will also receive a drive-by visit from Chestermere Community Safety and Operations staff on October 31. Vehicles may include a fire truck, peace officer patrol car, garbage truck and heavy equipment (depending on availability).

“We are excited to offer this contest as a way for kids to show off their costumes, have some ‘normal’ return to their lives, and help their neighbours by ‘fun’draising,” says Polachek. “We hope families have a great time participating together!”
