Rally to Support the Chestermere Rec Centre
Friday, September 27 4:30 pm at the Chestermere Rec Centre.
I'm sure by now everyone has heard the news about the closure of the Chestermere Recreation Centre. This is a major, major blow to the community, but everyone needs to hang tight for a bit, and yes, I know how hard that is. My family uses that facility too. Heck, my family helped BUILD that facility.
This has only happened in the last 24 hours and the rec centre staff need time to deal with the closure and the repercussions to the closure. There are only a few staff members in that office and there and MANY hundreds of people asking questions.
Maybe take the rec centre staff a BIG bottle of tequila. Or flowers. OR both. They are going to need it. Ask some of the user groups or businesses that lease the facility if you can lend a hand somehow. And, buy a rec centre membership. Those funds help support the building - and they can use all the support they can get right now.
That facility was built by community members for this community - let's pull together as a community and see how we can help the rec centre instead of pointing figures and placing blame.
