Pride Returns to Chestermere in 2019!

Celebrate Diversity in Our Community with Family Friendly Activities!

June 27, 2019

For Immediate Release:

The Chestermere Pride Committee is excited to host Pride events again this year at the end of June. All events are free to attend and open to all who are interested in learning more about the LGBT+ community and celebrating diversity in Chestermere.

“We are thrilled at the selection of events we have this year,” says Pride Committee Chair Courtney Killam-Pease. “People will have the chance to come and learn more about the LGBT+ folks they share this community with.” The Chestermere Pride Committee is excited to be working with local groups, performers, and educators to present this year’s events including James Demers, OUTreels, Reading With Royalty, DJ Scootz, and Damase Elis.

Events this year will include the painting of two city sidewalks, an information session, and a documentary screening. Celebrations will culminate with Pride in the Park: a family-friendly party that will take place in John Peake Park June 30th. This final event will feature food and all-ages entertainment. “We are wanting to welcome everyone to come and celebrate with us,” says Killam-Pease. All events will be free of charge and open to the public.

The Chestermere Pride Committee recently presented to Chestermere City Councilors to seek their continued support for the event. Mayor Marshall Chalmers has also officially proclaimed the week of June 24-30 as Pride Week in Chestermere.
