Backpack Program benefits those in need

Donations accepted until September 4

By City of Chestermere August 13, 2020

Due to COVID-19, the Family & Community Resource Centre will not be able to accept donations of backpacks or physical supplies this year. However, they will accept donations of gift cards. Please consider donating a $25 or $50 Walmart/Dollarama gift card

Whether through illness, family trauma or unforeseen circumstances, some families in our community are facing a tough year and are struggling to make ends meet. You can provide hope and dignity for a child by supporting the Backpack Program.

Please consider donating a gift card and inspire a child to succeed.  For more information, PLEASE CALL Paulette at (403) 207-7050 ext. 7081 to arrange for donations to be dropped off at Chestermere City Hall (105 Marina Road) until September 4.

How to Register

Each year the Community Resource Centre works with local schools and families to make sure students start the school year off right. The Community Resource Worker meets with the individual and/or family to learn about the school supply subsidy program, as well as, learn about other resources that can help offset expenses for the individual and/or family throughout the year.

The Community Resource Worker will need at least one of the following:

  • A referral from a school representative.
  • Documentation of school or transportation fees being waived.
  • Documentation of benefits such as CCB, EI, AiSH, income support, or other social assistance.
