Pretty in Pink - Take a Stand Against Bullying

By Synergy February 18, 2016

Every February we take a moment to stop and reflect on the impact bullying has on our community.  Not only does bullying happen with young people in schools, but it also happens with adults in the work place.  It’s important to take stock and remember how we, as individuals and as a community, can make a difference in putting an end to bullying.

Synergy believes very strongly in the importance of engaging youth in activities that explore self-awareness, responsibility, effective leardership, and the benefits of active community involvement. Youth Encouraging Lasting Leadership (better known as YELL) is our dedicated group of youth ages 13 – 17+. YELL accomplishes many valuable initiatives in the community. Throughout the month of February, YELL will be hosing Pretty in Pink, an anti-bullying fundraising campaign. Pretty in Pink coincides with the Pink Shirt Day event on February 25th, 2016. YELL has thoughtfully decided to support The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada. With a voluntary donation you can help express your support of the cause.

Why a Button?

  • Many people simply don’t own a pink shirt or prefer not to wear pink, but they may feel comfortable wearing a small button.
  • Some students have, ironically, started to get bullied for their choice NOT to wear pink on Pink Shirt Day.
  • A button can be displayed year round, unlike a pink shirt that may only be worn one day of the year.

Why the Children’s Wish?

“Magic wands don’t make wishes come true. Big hearts do.”

The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada works with communities across the country to provide children with life threatening illnesses the opportunity to realize their most heartfelt wish. By creating unique, meaningful experiences, Children’s Wish enhances quality of life for these courageous children and their families.
