Free (or nearly free) Family Stampede Activities and Events

Enjoying the Calgary Stampede doesn’t have to break the bank. Cowboy hats not necessary….but recommended YAHOO! The Calgary Stampede runs July 3 – 12.

Fluor Rope Square
Free Events at
Fluor Rope Square (Olympic Plaza) feature Chestermere residents the Keister Family Fiddlers,  Lammle’s Hat Stomp, performances by Drew Gregory, the Rotary Park Band, face painting, balloon artists and plenty of mascots.

Stampede Value Days
Stampede Value Days are a great way to take in the Stampede and save some money. Sneak-A-Peek is Thursday, July 2 and features $9.00 admission from 5pm – 12am. On July 2, 2015, show your Ride & Play card and gain early access to the park at 4:00 PM (admission rates apply). Ride the rides and try the food before anyone else! On redemption of your card, you will also receive the "Express Access Pass" at no extra charge. You will have front of the line access at all North American Midway rides all night long! 

The Suncor Family Day is Sunday, July 5. There is free admission between 6am – 9am and a free breakfast for the first 20,000 guests.  There are also a variety of free shows on the Grandstand stage.

BMO Kids Day is Wednesday, July 8.  Children 12 and under and accompanying adults receive free admission between 7am – 9am. There is a free breakfast in the Grandstand Courtyard (while quantities last) and free variety show on the Grandstand Stage

 Learn how to Square Dance
Mosey on down to Stephen Avenue Walk and join the Fluor Square Dancers. With the help of some amazing volunteers, anyone can learn to square dance! Schedule

Tour Downtown Calgary in an old time rig
Take a tour of downtown Calgary in a horse-drawn old time rig and even enjoy a pancake breakfast along the way. Make sure to arrive early, the rigs fill quickly! Rigs may also be escorted by the Calgary Stamped Band Show Riders. More information and schedule

Indian Parade
Members of the five tribes of Treaty 7 from Southern Alberta, dressed in traditional regalia, proudly display their heritage (weather permitting).  Representatives of the five First Nations that participated in the 1877 signing of Treaty Seven with Queen Victoria’s government parade on horseback from 1st Street along 9th Avenue to Fluor Rope Square. Join them at the Square for a Friendship Dance. Following the Fluor Rope Square, the Indian Parade proceeds to 4th Avenue SW with a stop at the Westin Hotel for photos.  More information and Schedule
