Celebrate Canada Day at John Peake Park

June 25, 2015

Join friends, family, neighbours and community and celebrate Canada Day with a day full of fantastic activities.

The day kicks off with a free pancake breakfast at 9:00am and entertainment , including local favourites the Keister Family Fiddlers and Minerva, on the Pavilion Stage. Throughout the day there will also be some fun bunny races (weather permitting) including time trials, high jump and classic hopping.

There will be plenty of kids activities to keep the young ones entertained, and don’t forget to sign up for the classic Tug of War at 1:30pm. There will also be wagon rides along the lake and a Trading Post at the library which includes birthday cake, Canada Flag puzzle and a book sale.

If you are looking to add a little spice to the day, stop by the Municipal Building for some Latin dance lessons, starting at 5:30pm. Following the lessons, there will a Salsa on the Lake Social Dance. All proceeds from the social will go to a Senhoa Fund, a non-profit charity to assist under privileged children and woman in Cambodia.

And what’s Canada Day without fireworks? Fireworks will start at approximately 10:30pm (dusk).

A new feature of this year’s Canada Day celebration is the Canada Day Passport Program. Get your passport at participating local businesses (while quantities last).  Collect 10 stamps from shopping at local businesses and enter to win some fabulous prizes. All passports must be dropped off no later than 3:30pm on July 1st at the Chestermere Library.
